01 · What it is
Narden Academy is a professional development ecosystem. Here, courses grow out of the real clinical experience of other professionals: cases treated, decisions made in the consulting room, what worked and what had to be rethought.
We learn from one another, grounded in scientific protocols and in everyday practice. That is how theory takes shape.
02 · Our starting point
Many marketing companies today promise professionals how many patients they will send and how to fill their diary. But attracting 300 patients in a month means little if they do not stay.
What sustains a clinical career is the ability to keep patients in treatment, because they see real results. And results come from a sound understanding of the case, evidence-based interventions and a solid therapeutic relationship.
03 · Meaning and sustainability
Ikigai is a Japanese word for one’s reason for being: what you love, what you are good at, what the world needs and what can sustain you. We want mental health to be that for professionals: something they stay passionate about studying.
And also a profession that is financially sustainable. Universities and some traditions in the field often convey, without saying so, that professionals cannot allow themselves to charge for their work. In this exchange of experience, we talk about it openly.
04 · Career
Running a practice also means running a small business. It is a side of the profession that is almost never taught.
At Narden Academy we share experience on this too, without losing sight of what remains at the centre: care and results for the patient.
05 · Scientific basis
We work with evidence-based protocols from:
We follow the treatment guidelines of the main psychology bodies: American (such as the APA, American Psychological Association), Brazilian, Italian and European.
But protocols are the starting point, not the destination: they must be adapted to each patient, who is a unique case.
06 · The patient
In front of the professional there is always a combination that never repeats: genetics, a life history, dysfunctional behaviours and thoughts, symptoms and disorders that interact and feed one another.
That is why these professional development courses are important and necessary: knowing the manual for one disorder is not enough when, in the consulting room, problems arrive intertwined.
07 · Diagnosis
Diagnosis matters a great deal and is always shared with the patient. But first the patient is prepared to receive it, and the diagnosis is also built together with them.
Sometimes, within one or two sessions, the professional already knows the diagnosis. But if they cannot structure the case and build with the patient the meaning of that diagnosis for their life, treatment becomes difficult.
A diagnosis must not become a crutch: it has to make sense to the patient and guide the treatment.
08 · What sets us apart
At Narden Academy, diagnosis is approached transdiagnostically. Beyond the list of symptoms for each disorder, we look for the processes that cut across several conditions and keep them going: how the person regulates emotions, what they avoid, how they interpret what happens to them, how they relate to others.
Many patients today arrive at the consulting room without a precise diagnosis being reached: presentations overlap and change over time. That is why integrated therapy is increasingly used.
Transdiagnosis, functional analysis of the patient and concrete help with the dysfunctional behaviours that cause harm, limitation and suffering: for us, knowing how to do this in practice matters more than any diploma.

We accompany professionals through every stage of their growth, until they have the skills to recognise these processes and, in practice, help these patients.
It is not about collecting certificates, but about walking into the consulting room knowing what to do in front of a real patient.
10 · Community
Universities teach theory very well. Psychotherapy training programmes also teach theory well and offer supervision. But once all of that ends, professionals are often left orphaned: alone in the consulting room, face to face with the patient.
Ours is, by nature, a rather solitary profession. That is why we build this support network: an ecosystem for discussing cases, being supervised at Narden Supervision and understanding how theory works in practice.
Discover Narden Supervision →11 · Human experience
More important than any generic advice an artificial intelligence can give about a disorder is the clinical experience of colleagues who have already sat in front of real patients.
That human experience cannot be replaced by artificial intelligence.
12 · For patients and the general public
Not everyone needs, or wants, psychotherapy. Some people are looking for a path of personal growth; others are in therapy, or have been, and want to better understand what their therapist recommended, explained or diagnosed.
For them, Narden Academy offers courses in plain language, grounded in scientific evidence. They do not replace psychotherapy: they help people understand and apply it in everyday life.
Some topics have one course for patients and another for professionals. They are different courses, with distinct content and goals.
